My Gaming in 2026

It is wild to me that over the past year the Switch 2 has become my primary way to play video games after realising how little I care about the highest frame rates, resolution and graphical fidelity.

What really matters is the pick up and play experience of the console, the portability and the seamless way I can transition between docked and handheld play which no PC handheld is able to match (Steam Deck is close but still janky)

It certainly helps that Nintendo has put out so many great first party exclusives that have kept be coming back AND gotten all the third parties I want to play onboard so I just buy them there as well. My first PS5 purchase of this year is the Ghost of Yotei DLC which just came out.

Could I play those third party games elsewhere with higher frame rates and better graphics? Yes, but I am at an age now where the experience offered by Nintendo’s console matters more than other factors.
